Walker or Rollator? Choosing the Right Mobility Aid

Not every mobility aid fits every need. The right choice depends on your balance, stamina, and whether you need to sit and rest along the way.

Standard folding walkers

A standard (no-wheel) folding walker offers the most stability because you lift and place it with each step. It's a good fit for users who need maximum support and don't need to move quickly.

Two-wheel walkers

Two front wheels let you push the walker forward without lifting it, which suits users who have some balance but tire from repeated lifting. Rear glide caps keep the back legs stable.

Four-wheel rollators

Rollators roll on all four wheels, have hand brakes, and usually include a padded seat and storage basket — ideal for users with reasonably good balance who want to walk farther and rest when needed. They're not meant for users who need to lean their full weight on the frame while it's moving.

Getting properly fitted

Handle height matters as much as the type of walker — set too low or high, it changes your posture and increases fall risk. We fit every walker and rollator to the user's height in-store or at home.
