What to Expect at a Compression Stocking Fitting

Compression stockings are sized by circumference measurements at specific points on the leg (ankle, calf, sometimes thigh), not by shoe or clothing size. A trained fitter takes these measurements to match you to the right size and compression level (measured in mmHg) prescribed by your doctor.

Lower compression levels (8–20 mmHg) are often used for mild swelling or long travel; moderate to higher levels (20–30 mmHg and above) are typically prescribed for medical conditions like venous insufficiency or after certain procedures — always per your physician's order.
